81% of Infants Contaminated with Phthalates
PEDIATRICS, the official journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics,
released an article entitled Baby Care Products: Possible Sources of
Infant Phthalate Exposure.
Phthalates, man-made chemicals commonly used as fragrance enhancers in
personal care products (eg. cosmetics, shampoo) and baby products (eg.
lotions, powders), were linked with possible reproductive problems. In
fact 81 percent of infants within the study have phthalate metabolites
their system. Click on this CBC article to learn more. Check
your labels for common phthalates including DEP and DEHP. Concerned
parents can seek products labeled "phthalate-free" (also available on our
website).
